#ThriftyThursdays

Many who know me know that I am a proud thrifter! It’s just something about finding amazing things in good and sometimes new condition for little to nothing that gets me excited! In most cases depending on the area where you thrift you may find some serious brand names for just a few bucks! Which is a win win situation when you’re like me….someone who enjoys looking great but on a budget. And to be completely honest, I know quite a few people who have lucked up at the thrift/second hand stores. One of those people being a pageant sister of mine from New York who found a pair of Christian Louboutins at the Goodwill……(insert shocked emoji face here)!

This particular Thursday afternoon, my mother and I decided to stop at one of our favorite places to thrift in Oak Park, IL, The Economy Shop. This place has been here for as long as I can remember! Every room in this 3 story house sales different things from shoes, athletic wear, formal apparel, home goods, antiques, children’s clothes, books, etc. This is the same place where I was blessed to find my sewing machine a year or so ago when I decided that I wanted to learn how to sew. I have truly found some gems at The Economy Shop! And if you aren’t careful, you could easily be here for hours!!!

Today’s haul was a mini one due to me looking for fabric and other sewing notions instead of clothes and shoes. I left the Economy Shop practically skipping to the car because I lucked up and ran into a 50% off fabric sale! I walked away paying a whopping $6.50 for 12 yards of beautiful fabric! Stay tuned to see what I do with it…..

If you’re in the Chicagoland area and you’re interested in visiting the Economy Shop in Oak Park, the next sale is December 9, 2017 from 9a-3p!!!

There was more fabric that didn’t fit into the pic. I was trying not to get other shoppers in the photo but you get the picture.

    1. You should! It can be hit or miss but I’ve definitely had more hits than misses. And because they aren’t open daily they get a chance to accumulate a good amount donations for when the next sale comes around.
